Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are on our way to the airport for a 16 hour flight to Johannesburg to once again give our gifts and talents to the people of Zimbabwe. We will stay overnight in Johannesburg, then fly an hour and a half north to Zimbabwe on Tuesday morning.
This particular term of service will be focused on a surgical eye camp that we have planned over several months. The Islamic association of Zimbabwe invited doctors from Pakistan to Zimbabwe last year to conduct a surgical eye camp – so we thought, ‘ why not a Christian Eye Camp in 2020’. We discussed this with the head doctor at the Richard Morris Eye Hospital in Bulawayo, and he enthusiastically supported us.
We have sent a shipment of supplies and equipment ahead, and are praying that it will arrive to be opened next week before the start of the eye camp. We also have Dr. Glen. Smalley, his wife, and Dr. Timothy Kao to travel next week and join us. We will have four different churches in Bulawayo who will assist us in ministering to the patients and witnessing to them as we perform eye surgery. We pray that spiritual eyes will be opened as well as physical eyesight during this intensive eye camp.
Steve will also be teaching at a symposium and at the local medical school. We also plan on conducting a rural eye camp during the last week of our four week stay, and look forward to sharing with you all of the accomplishments and blessings that will take place as God uses us in this country with so much need.
Thank you for your continued prayers for us. We are grateful for the privilege and honor of serving the Lord and sharing our gifts with those in a place of suffering and deprivation.
Sincerely,
Steve and Jane Beaty
