Dear Friends and Supporters,
Well, it’s time again for us to head back to Africa and continue the work and ministry to which we have been called. We will be boarding the long 16 hour flight on Delta Air Lines to Johannesburg, staying the night and taking another plane up to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe the next day to face immigration and customs at the airport. Even after all of these years of service, we are required to pay a yearly fee of $600 to do charitable work in Zimbabwe.
Anyway, our schedule at this time is still not full. However, as it always happens, the needs mount up quickly and we are pulled several ways in our service of consulting, teaching, mentoring and heading up various eye camps to so many needy and hurting people in Zimbabwe.
We are already planning to attend the Zimbabwe Ophthalmic Congress where Steve will give a talk. We have also been asked to travel to the southern border of the country to do another eye camp at Nottingham Citrus Estates. This will be the 5th time that we will be giving our services to a large workforce, and it will be a joy to once again help many who have no access to eye care.
This trip to Africa will also be the first time that we will travel to Kenya where we have been asked to conduct a pilot project of teaching and eye camps. We are praying that God will use us in a new area of need in Eastern Africa, and we look forward to sharing with you the results of our work there.
Lastly, the need is great in Africa. We are few, but we are determined to help and reach as many as possible who have need with both physical and spiritual eyesight. Please pray for us, that God will give us the courage and wisdom to serve Him well there. Thank you for your partnership with us.
Steve and Jane Beaty
