Dear Friends and Supporters,
We continue to see great and wonderful things as we work and minister here. We have been in Zimbabwe for over a month now, and our schedule remains busy as we encounter the great needs of the people.
Steve has been teaching at the Richard Morris Eye Hospital, and this trip he also had a new and wonderful event in his career. Our daughter, Rebekah, her husband and children joined us to visit and work for several weeks. A gentleman was referred to Steve with severe scarring of his lower eyelid along with a large skin cancer of the cheek. Rebekah assisted and worked with Steve as they excised the skin cancer and repaired the lower lid with a skin graft. What a joy to work alongside our children in ministry!
We also journeyed with a team this week to a very poor part of the city and to a rural area to provide eye care to the people. The gospel was preached and individuals were ministered to. Steve saw a total of 200 patients and Jane gave out around 150 pairs of glasses. Sadly, we saw a number of people with blindness. Inaccessibility to adequate healthcare is a major problem here in Zimbabwe. We pray that God will give peace and grace in the midst of emotional grief from loss of eyesight in these poor people.
A team of South African doctors will join and work alongside us next week in several eye camps. They also want to observe our work to consider copying our model of ministry both here and in South Africa. We look forward to the interaction and encouragement that we will share with them.
Thank you for continuing to support us in prayer. We look forward to our next communication with you as we continue our work here.
Steve and Jane Beaty
