Cold Nights & Full Hearts

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We rejoice in all that has happened since we last wrote to you. Jane arrived without any difficulties or problems in her journey over, although two nights in an airplane took its toll, and she was worn out when she arrived in Bulawayo. Steve was grateful and so very pleased to see her on this side of the Atlantic where the cold weather has persisted at night, and the water has been heated for those wonderful hot water bottles.

Steve continued his work, teaching and assisting in the development of surgical skills in another group of eye doctors at the Richard Morris Eye Hospital. He has been encouraged to see that the doctors who have already mastered the skills taught to them are now teaching this new group.

A patient presented to the clinic with a history of an injury to the upper lid a couple of years ago. This had resulted in a large defect in the lid. Steve repaired the eyelid, using the case as a teaching opportunity on proper and correct surgical principles in eyelid repairs.

We have had a team of 9 people come and work with us this last week. They led vacation bible school at a local school, conducted basketball clinics, mentored girls and children at multiple orphanages, and assisted Steve in an eye camp. All of these ministries have had the presentation of the gospel as the primary goal. The team has adapted so well to the change in time, climate, culture and the tight schedule, and it has been a joy to host them. We all will travel to the Hwange Game Park and Victoria Falls for a couple of days before they leave to head back to the States.

Thank you for your continued prayers for us. The Election season is here, but things have been quiet, and we have all felt safe. We thank God for His protection. We look forward to sharing with you again in the weeks to come. We know that God has more wonderful times of ministry here for us.

Be blessed,

Steve and Jane Beaty
