Dear Friends and Supporters,
We had several more busy weeks here in Zimbabwe, having recently travelled out to a rural farm area about 60 miles from the city of Bulawayo. Here we teamed up with Rev. Jeff Scorziell to hold an eye clinic/eye camp at a local rural clinic. The people who live in that area are quite poor, and now that rains have not come to Zimbabwe there will be food deprivation and possible starvation. However, we were warmly welcomed at the clinic, Steve saw 70 patients, and Jane gave out 85 pairs of glasses. Our team interacted with the people who came, shared the Good News with many of them, and through their interactions with the local people, they believe that a new church plant will be well received. Plans are underway for this to take place.
We conducted another eye camp at a local church in the high density, low income part of the city of Bulawayo. Once again, Christian love was given to those who came to have their eyes examined and to receive treatment. Steve examined 135 people and Jane gave out 140 pairs of glasses. Once again, the Good News was proclaimed, and a number responded. We thank God for being at work through our outreach.
Our new friend (who we mentioned previously and was attacked by a crocodile) was released from rehabilitation, and Jane was able to watch him walk again without crutches. He told her that it was a miracle that he survived the crocodile attack on the Limpopo River. He likened his experience with the 3 Hebrew young men, Shadrak, Meshak and Obednigo, who were thrown into the fiery furnace, except his fiery furnace was a crocodile that had suddenly grabbed him on the shore. He is a true walking miracle!
So, as always, we encounter people and opportunities that are presented to us here beyond our plans, and we are privileged to assist in the lives of so many.
Thank you once again for your prayers for us that we will continue to be faithful to the call to help so many in need.
Steve and Jane Beaty
