Dear Friends and Supporters;
We are preparing and packing to return to Zimbabwe next week, and we leave with great anticipation in this next chapter in the work and ministry in a country with so many who are in great need, both physically and spiritually.
This trip will have us hosting a team of 12 tennis players and coaches from Athletes in Action. They will hold teaching clinics at schools and will share the Good News through their interactions with many who will be involved in learning the game of tennis.
We will also have a team of optometrists and assistants from South Africa to join us in several eye camps. They will work with us in sharing God’s love as we give of our skills and talents in eye exams and treatments to many patients who come with eye problems.
We will also be privileged to host Dr. Steven Yeh, professor of ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska, and Dr. Erick Bothun, professor of ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic. They will be teaching and giving presentations at the national ophthalmology medical meeting in August. Dr. Yeh is also working closely with Steve in setting up the only surgical retina program in Zimbabwe. Some of the equipment for this project has already been purchased, and we hope that by the end of the first quarter, 2025, training will begin.
So, we thank God for so much that has been achieved in raising the standards of eye care in southern Zimbabwe. However, the needs for mentoring, teaching and bringing eye care to the needy in Zimbabwe still looms large. We are committed to using all the resources that have been entrusted to us to continue in our calling to bring physical and spiritual eyesight to those in need.
Thank you again for your prayers for us in these endeavors.
Steve and Jane Beaty
