Dear Friends and Supporters,
It’s that time again when we start to gather supplies and begin to pack for our next trip to Zimbabwe and the work that is always ready for us. We will be leaving on February 2nd and will return on March 2nd, spending a month in work and service in and around Bulawayo and the southern part of Zimbabwe.
Last year, the Islamic Association of Zimbabwe brought in a team of doctors from Pakistan to conduct an Islamic Eye Camp. When we heard about it, we said “if they can conduct an Islamic Eye Camp, why can’t we organize a Christian Eye Camp?” So, we began to discuss the idea with doctors at the Richard Morris Eye Hospital. The head of department, Dr. Gilbert Moyo, is a believer and he enthusiastically endorsed plans to move forward.
We will have 2 other eye surgeons, Dr. Glen Smalley and Dr. Timothy Kao, travel with us, joining several eye doctors at Richard Morris to work in collaboration together. Our goal for the team is to perform 300 operations over one of the weeks that we are there. We will have several churches minister to the patients, feeding them and praying with them while the team is performing surgery. Please uplift us in prayer in the second week of February during this time.
We have shipped a crate with supplies and equipment, and we hope and pray that it will arrive in time for us to have the necessary consumables for the eye camp.
Thank you for your continued support. We will keep you posted on all that will take place as we continue the work and minister to so many who are in such great need.
Steve and Jane Beaty
