Greetings from Zimbabwe!
We have had a blessed week, witnessing some of the most beautiful scenery; everything is so green! The rains have been awesome this year, the best in over a decade which has resulted in lots of smiling faces and huge potholes! In one of the pictures you can see how lush the area is. In the same photo, you see a gentleman in a red shirt; he is the rural outreach pastor for one of the areas we visited. The young lady in the New York shirt is the Bulawayo Baptist associate pastor’s daughter. She just graduated high school, was the head-girl at Petra High, and loves being involved in rural outreach serving her community; a very giving young lady.
Steve has already completed five different lectures to various medical groups, one surgical case and examined 35 more folks here in the city. On Thursday we drove an hour to a new area called “Mazwe” and saw 150 patients. One of the pictures shows a small group of patients waiting for the clinic beginning to form early in the day. Here is a short video of Steve speaking at one of the eye camps…
We distributed medicines and glasses, both prescription and reading glasses. Jane’s favorite part of the day was giving an elderly lady a pair of aphakic glasses which allowed her to regain her vision; she became so excited that she could actually see and praised God! We witnessed an elderly man, also seen in one of the photos above, dancing with joy as well after he received his glasses. Needless to say it was a great day.
We have three ladies with us from Wynnbrook Baptist Church and it has been wonderful having them serve with us. They are thoroughly enjoying being a part of God’s work here in Zimbabwe. Thank you for your continued prayer and support!
Watch out for another update soon! God Bless!
