Drops of Joy

Dear friends, Let it be known that it has rained almost daily for the past 3 weeks here in Bulawayo and we give thanks to God for sending the rain. It has been an amazing 5 weeks. We are now into our last week before we head back to the states on Monday. We wanted to give an update about our 2 most recent eye camps. One was located about 3 hours from here in […]

A Running Start

Dear Friends of Eyecare To The Needy, All we can say is… we hit the ground running in Zimbabwe. We arrived last Sunday, February 8th, with a team of eight from Brookstone School in Columbus, GA. Once unpacked, the team loaded two vehicles and headed to visit two children’s homes that we support. The Brookstone students were able to tour each of them. Sunday came to a wonderful end as our pastor, from Bulawayo Baptist, and his […]

Blessings Abound

Dear Friends and Supporters: We have arrived back in the US, and want to thank you once again for your prayers and thoughts while we were in Zimbabwe and South Africa these last six weeks. Looking back at all God did, we rejoice and thank Him for using us to help so many, and for protecting and providing for us and those who came alongside to help. It was a wonderful honor to serve, meet new colleagues […]

Dear Friends and Supporters of Eyecare to the Needy, We send you this update of our mission and work with fullness in our hearts over all that has been accomplished since we last wrote. The time has flown and as we prepare to depart from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to Cape Town, South Africa, we thank God for His protection and provision in so many ways. Two weeks ago, Steve spent the week in consultation and surgery with […]

A Family Gathering

Cecil the Lion……well, we cannot tell you much about that incident but we can tell you what God has been doing through us these past few weeks. We had the wonderful privilege of having our family with us and just said good-bye to them today. Our Internet has not been good; this is being sent via Thomas Carroll upon his return to the states. Jane’s sister, Jennifer joined us for her first international mission trip. […]

A Thankful Return to Africa

Hello Eyecare Friends, Greetings from hot Columbus, GA!  Our Sunday departure for Zimbabwe is fast approaching. This will be an exciting 5 weeks for us. We feel so fortunate that our kids, Rebekah and her husband Robby, Rachel and her boyfriend Thomas, Russell, and my older sister Jennifer will be with us for the first 2 weeks. It will be a special time to work and serve the people in and around the Bulawayo area […]

The Gift of Eyesight

Dearest Friends – As I (Jane) write in between washings of Steve’s surgical instruments, we are thankful to Mater Dei Hospital here in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, for their assistance in helping folks restore their physical eyesight. Steve has a wonderful surgical staff of nurses that continue to learn and assist in surgery. Over the last 15 years, we have come to know and truly appreciate each one of them. Most hospitals here always take a thirty-minute […]

Beautiful and Green

Dear Friends of Eyecare to the Needy, It has been several years since Jane and I were here in February so we are finding the lush green grass and heavily laden green trees a beautiful site to behold. This past week has been busy with unpacking and sorting the items from last year’s container that arrived the day of our departure last fall. We were blessed to have two representatives from Brookstone school in Columbus, […]
