A Thankful Return to Africa

Hello Eyecare Friends, Greetings from hot Columbus, GA!  Our Sunday departure for Zimbabwe is fast approaching. This will be an exciting 5 weeks for us. We feel so fortunate that our kids, Rebekah and her husband Robby, Rachel and her boyfriend Thomas, Russell, and my older sister Jennifer will be with us for the first 2 weeks. It will be a special time to work and serve the people in and around the Bulawayo area […]

The Gift of Eyesight

Dearest Friends – As I (Jane) write in between washings of Steve’s surgical instruments, we are thankful to Mater Dei Hospital here in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, for their assistance in helping folks restore their physical eyesight. Steve has a wonderful surgical staff of nurses that continue to learn and assist in surgery. Over the last 15 years, we have come to know and truly appreciate each one of them. Most hospitals here always take a thirty-minute […]

Beautiful and Green

Dear Friends of Eyecare to the Needy, It has been several years since Jane and I were here in February so we are finding the lush green grass and heavily laden green trees a beautiful site to behold. This past week has been busy with unpacking and sorting the items from last year’s container that arrived the day of our departure last fall. We were blessed to have two representatives from Brookstone school in Columbus, […]

A New Year

We are excited to have Mrs. Cindy Sparks and Mrs. Catherine Trotter accompany us from Brookstone School this trip as they will be in meetings with a school in Bulawayo to establish a sister relationship between the schools. They will also have the opportunity to participate with us in a rural eye […]

Great Hope

Dear Friends of Eyecare to the Needy, Once again, our apologies for the delayed blog which is coming just as we have wrapped up our last ministry trip to Zimbabwe for this year. Unfortunately, internet service while there was almost non-existent for most of our stay, so we were not able to bring you as much news while working in the Bulawayo area. What words can express our hearts’ emotions as we think on all that […]

Always a Blue Sky

Salibonani Friends! So great to be able to share with you all once again! The above greeting is Ndebele and used here in Zimbabwe. It has been three months since we were last here, and yes, we are back! We are so very sorry for the delay in our first post, but it’s a great indicator of how busy we have been! Rachel, our daughter, arrived with us Saturday, July 12, into Bulawayo. The weather […]

Full Hearts

As we wrap up our current stay in Zimbabwe we want to share with you a little more of what God is doing here in this special place. While our final week was filled with another busy schedule, we were continually reminded […]
