Dear Friends;
Today is our last day here in Zimbabwe before we fly out. We’ve been here now for 7 weeks. We have to admit that we miss our children, grandchildren and friends back in the States. It will be a joy to see them all again.
Steve has stayed busy, seeing his last several patiens over the weekend and today. He’s also been busy packing suitcases and helping to close down the house that we have here for our departure.
Looking back at this time of almost 2 months here, we rejoice in knowing God’s hand of provision and protection was upon us. From bouts of malaria, lng hazardous drives to outlying parts of the country, police roadblocks, broken down vehicles on the roads along with large trucks on two lane highways, we thank God for leading and protecting us.
Steve has seen a definite improvement in the standard of eye care these last few months. He has also mentored Dr. Ronald Chimwe who is now on staff at the Mater Dei Hospital, and is joining up with Dr. Moyo and Dr. Malemane. Dr. Chimwe has a special interest in glaucoma, and Steve has instructed him in the use of the SLT glaucoma laser. This technology is a wonderful addition in the treatment of glaucoma, an affliction so common in Sub-Sahara Africa.
So, another chapter in the work and ministry in which we are called is closing. We seek guidance from the Lord to follow His will as we laborr for His Kingdom here in Zimbabwe.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers that have sustained and uplifted us. May the Father bless and keep you.
Steve and Jane Beaty
