Fruitful Times in Zimbabwe

Dear Friends and Supporters;

Our time in Zimbabwe is drawing to the end of our sojourn here. The last couple of weeks have been filled with work, ministry, and hosting dear friends, Ralph and Lynn Parrish.

They assisted us in several ministries. Ralph participated as Steve did surgery on a lady removing a cancerous growth on her lower lid and performing a skin graft. Ralph and Lynn both helped at an eye camp conducted in a rural area of Southern Zimbabwe, While Steve examined and treated patients, Ralph did preliminary testing of patients’ vision. Lynn assisted Jane to fit the correct power of spectacles on patients. As always, before the clinical work began, the Gospel was presented. We thank God for the privilege of serving those who are desperately poor.

Ralph was a guest speaker at a men’s breakfast, and at the church where Steve and Jane attend. He spoke on his experience as head of a large steel fabricating company. His message stirred many hearts as he shared how God has enabled him through some very difficult seasons in his business. Maintaining integrity and faith were key points that he stressed to those who heard him. Ralph and Lynn both shared in yesterday’s church service in a short question and answer session stressing the significance of working through difficult times together as a couple, keeping God the center in all situations and the important value of being in a Christian community.

We were able to take Ralph and Lynn to the Victoria Falls and the Hwange National Park. We always come away with awe at God’s creations in the mighty Victoria Falls, and the bountiful wildlife that we saw.

Steve will be returning to Zimbabwe in late May to host Dr. Darrell Baskin, a retina specialist from Alaska. He will also be joined by Pastor Rob Heath from Redeemer Church in South Carolina.

Once again, thank you for your prayers, we are grateful to God for your friendship and support in our work.

Dr. Steve and Jane
