Bringing Hope in Zimbabwe

Dear Friends of Eyecare;

It’s been a very busy, but fulfilling week here as we have worked and ministered to many. Dr. Baskin arrived, and while he went to work teaching management of retinal diseases to Dr. Moyo, Steve and Pastor Rob conducted an eye camp at a senior citizen’s retirement community with very poor elderly people. Just a pair of reading glasses alone produced great joy and thanksgiving from those we ministered to.

Pastor Rob was the guest speaker at a two day conference at a church in the rural community of Mbembesi. Steve played the guitar with a praise team as the congregation sang with beautiful harmony in their own language. It was a time of great praise and edification as the Word was received by so many. Pastor Rob also was the guest lecturer at a local Bible college, and led sessions over three full days. The students’ feedback at the end was unanimous in their joy of learning new Biblical concepts and truths.

Steve had a wonderful surprise yesterday as he decided to turn on a glaucoma laser that had malfunctioned, and is sorely needed. He decided to turn it on, hoping that it might possibly work. As he did and it went through the warm-up steps, the screen suddenly showed that the laser was functioning. He shot the laser several times, and thanked God for this amazing turnaround!

We only have a few more days in Bulawayo before we return to the US. It has been a privilege to give our ourselves and resources to help so many in this country where needs abound.

Thank you for your continued prayers for us.

Steve and Jane Beaty
