Dear Friends and Supporters
As always, time moves fast here, and we are busy in the midst of clinical work and ministry in and around Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Steve started seeing patients the day after we arrived. He saw a 17 year old young man who has lost much of his vision due to a condition, keratoconus. This disease of the cornea of the eyes results in progressive thinning and eventual scarring with loss of vision to the degree that normal visual tasks become impossible.
Through examination and testing, Steve confirmed that this young man’s condition made him a good candidate for a procedure, corneal cross linking, which he performed on this young man who is facing critical school examinations. This technique arrests the progressive thinning and steepening of the cornea, and can actually result in some reversal of its progression. The attached photograph shows Steve performing the procedure.
We held a rural eye. camp yesterday, examining patients, giving out glasses and medications, and scheduling several surgical procedures. Our team prayed with patients, and the Gospel was presented. Our family, including Rebekah, Robby and their children were involved in the eye camp, as well as ministering to school children and giving gifts at the school where we held the eye camp.
We spent two days at the Victoria Falls with the family and marveled once again at one of the seven wonders of the world.
Thank you once again for your prayers. We have only had an ear infection in Rebekah’s youngest daughter, Emmaline. we have otherwise had no accidents or mishaps. We thank God for His provision and protection.

Blessings to you.
Steve and Jane Beaty
